The 18th and 19th September . . .  wow what a weekend!! I had planned to post these pics a lot earlier but hadn’t imagined how difficult the edit would be from a 2 day action packed wedding celebration. The couple celebrating their marriage were Max, of Northern Italian stock, and Dimple, Leicester based and of Hindu background.

In many ways we felt privileged photographing the ceremony at the Shree Temple, St Barnabas Road, Leicester on the Saturday. This was our first Hindu wedding and the sights, sounds and rituals filled our senses. Max’s family and friends many of whom had travelled over from Italy  joined the celebration dressed in Sari’s, and Dimple’s family made them feel welcome using a spattering of Italian. Guests assembled and the anticipation grew. Enter groom centre stage dressed like an Indian prince. Max was then placed behind a veil at the altar. Dimple’s arrival was stunning, a beautiful bride in traditional dress, perfect make up and and adorned with jewels and Mendhi. The ceremony was spiritual, guiding and full of love after which both families and friends shared a meal in the Temple. Max and Dimple beamed all day. As the bride and groom were whisked away to their car it was time for one last good luck ritual, the breaking of a coconut placed under the wheel of the departing wedding car. Brilliant.
